The vision of EcoEdge Consulting is to create the communities of the future by applying the principles of sustainability to commercial, community and home development. To turn this vision into reality, Craig Lobel, the President of EcoEdge Consulting, has created the Sustainability Master Plan (SMP), a comprehensive program that can be implemented by residential and commercial developers, builders and other businesses involved in real estate development.
The Sustainability Master Plan is an all-inclusive program that outlines the ideal qualities of every sustainable community and provides a practical development and technology roadmap to show how these qualities can be achieved.
The SMP includes a broad array of existing and new environmental and energy-related technologies for commercial projects or residential communities. By providing choices, the SMP offers the flexibility to adapt each project to the characteristics, economics, practical needs, and regional tastes of the community in which it is being built.
For residential developers, the sustainability Master Plan includes separate plans for the community developer and for homebuilders, recognizing that the homes of its residents must fit into the sustainability dynamic for the community to fulfill its potential. Following the SMP, the community developer partners with homebuilders to bundle environmental technologies and make them available to homebuyers.
The Sustainability Master Plan includes proposed design, construction and technology implementation standards in the categories of site and landscape design, water conservation, energy conservation, materials conservation, renewable resources and indoor environmental quality.
The goals of the Sustainability Master Plan are to use natural resources wisely, preserve the natural environment, and create environmentally sound, healthy and resource-efficient communities.
